Walkersville Band Boosters General Meeting November
9, 2006
The November meeting of the WHS Band Boosters
was held on Thursday, 9 November 2006, at 7:00 p.m. with 13 people
present. Mark Smith, VP,
presided.
Director’s
Roar:
Mr. F
did not attend the meeting but he e-mailed a few items of note:
Reserve your bus seats to the ACCs from Mrs. Clark and get
your tickets to the show at a reduced rate from her also.
Mr. F
wants to thank all the parents for getting their kids to practice on
time, especially this past week.
The
last performances will be at the elementary schools (Glade, New
Midway, and Walkersville) on Tues, Weds and Thurs, 13-15 November,
after school. Band
members need to wear their band shirts.
He
thanked everyone for a great season!
President’s
Report: Mark
wanted to extend his all to the band members and the staff for a
great season.
Secretary’s
Report: No
changes. Motion made to
approve, seconded and passed.
Treasurer’s
Report: No
report.
Committee
Reports:
Publicity: No

Ways and Means:
Joe
Corbi’s coming out this week.
Check the green bin for info.
Sub
sales are due Monday, 13 Nov 06.
Breakfast
with Santa will be December 2nd from 8-11 a.m., WHS cafeteria.
Flyers will be distributed to the elementary schools, 10 Nov
to be passed out to the students on 21 Nov.
Flyers were handed out to everyone at the meeting to give out
and display.
Mr. And Mrs.
Clark
had pictures of the band matted and framed to be given to Mr. F.,
the Villanellis, and Mr. Geisler at the band banquet.
Request $3.00 from each band member to pay for the cost of
the matting and framing. Students
can sign the back of the pictures after presentation.
The band did receive a $50.00 kickback from Charles’ Studio
for the pictures that were taken in October.
Mrs. Clark stated that with the Disney trip being cancelled
that fund-raisers for the students’ accounts are not needed now,
but it was brought up about the $150.00 net fund-raising fee for
each student that is due in April.
(Parents can pay this amount instead of fund-raising.
This is in addition to the band fee paid at the beginning of
the season.)
Battle
of the Bands:
Mark
thought the
Battle
of the Bands went very well. Two
thousand dollars in ticket sales alone.
He thought we did relatively well profit-wise.
He
wants to have a follow-up meeting on Thursday, 16 Nov, at 6:30 p.m.
after the sub making to discuss what went well and what could have
gone better. He wants to
create a book for future reference.
Basket Bingo will be held 24 Feb 07 at the
Woodsboro
Activity
Center
. So far only three
people have offered to fill baskets.
Mrs. Gorecki volunteered to be the bingo caller.
Winter Concessions:
Suzanne Clark and Marjorie Johnson are chairing.
The winter practices start 15 Nov.
There will be a sign-up sheet at the band banquet asking for
volunteers.
Band
Banquet: The banquet will be
held 18 Nov 06 at the
United
Methodist
Church
on
Main Street
in Walkersville. Flyers
are in the green bins. RSVP’s
due 13 Nov 06.

New
Business: Elections
are coming up in December. Mark
Smith will be accepting nominations so if anyone is interested, let
him know. Positions
available are president, vice president, secretary, treasurer,
publicity, and ways and means.
Next meeting will be held 14 December 2006 at 7:00 p.m.
