Walkersville Band Boosters General Meeting October
11, 2006
The October
meeting of the WHS Band Boosters was held on Wednesday, 11 October
2006, at 7:30 p.m. Mark Smith, VP, presided.
Director’s
Roar:
Mr. F. gave more details on the Disney trip.
He emphasized that the girls and boys would be separated,
both on the buses and in the hotel (separate floors).
He needs one chaperone per ten students.
Students will be 4 to a room.
He will have a detailed itinerary after the first of the
year. This is purely a
fun trip – a reward for everyone’s hard work.
Battle
of the Bands: Duet with
Music wants to set up a repair table and Bonnie Andrews is going to
sell plastic bracelets and French fries.
Marching
Band: Score wise we are
not where we want to be; there are some issues but they are not the
kids fault. He was able
to get one hour a week to practice on the football field, which he
feels will make a difference. They
haven’t had a full band rehearsal for at least three weeks, please
get students to every practice and on time.
FCPS Band Festival has been rescheduled for Monday, 30
October 2006, at CHS.
Homecoming
Dance is the same night as Chapters, 4 November.
Mr. F has arranged for tickets to the dance to be free for
marching band members since they will be late getting to the dance.
Rehearsal tomorrow, 12 October, from 3-5.
Saturday rehearsal is at 10:00, lunch from 12:30 to 1:45,
practice ends at 4:00 and buses leave between 4:30 and 5:00.

Smith stated that the band is doing well, but not really well.
